Jake's Progress (Channel 4, 9pm): This new series has BAFTA stamped all over it – it's written by Alan Bleasdale and stars Robert Lindsay and Julie Walters as Jamie and Julie, who are expecting their second chiild, a sibling to six-year-old Jake. It should be a time for celebration. But this is a family at breaking point.

Jamie, a failed rock star, is a househusband. Julie, a nurse, makes ends meet. Jake adores his dad, but he's starting to hate his mum. Things can only get worse.
